Segundo a revista, Lupi fez uma viagem oficial no Estado do Maranhão em dezembro de 2009 a bordo de um avião disponibilizado pelo empresário Adair Meira, que controla duas ONGs beneficiárias de convênios no valor de R$ 10,4 milhões com o Ministério.
As ONGs de Meira são investigadas por desvio de dinheiro nos convênios com a pasta.
No sábado, o Ministério do Trabalho divulgou uma nota atribuindo ao PDT a responsabilidade pelo avião usado em sua viagem.
Na opinião de integrantes do Palácio do Planalto, no entanto, o esclarecimento não foi satisfatório e a sobrevivência de Lupi depende de como reagirá às denúncias de que tem sido alvo. Ainda segundo assessores do Palácio, seu destino não está selado.
