A desastrosa administração da prefeita Socorro Waquim (PMDB) tem dificultado seu avanço no campo político. Enquanto algumas cidades vizinhas já existem uma definição do candidato a sucessão do chefe do executivo local, em Timon se arrasta há dias.
Fizeram todos os tipos de manobras, até que conseguiu concentrar os três pré-candidatos a prefeito de Timon no PMDB, o secretário municipal de Meio Ambiente, Irmão William, o presidente da Câmara de Vereador, Tales Waquim (sobrinho do deputado Sétimo Waquim), e o atual vice-prefeito e secretário municipal de Ação Social, Edivar Ribeiro (ex-PRP).
Em Timon é comum se ouvi, que o indicado será Tales Waquim, pelo simples fato do elo familiar, o inverso dificilmente algum timonense ouse em acreditar que o nome do vice-prefeito Edivar será indicado.

Nos últimos dias vazou a informação que o vice-prefeito Edivar Ribeiro teria sabido da nomeação de Josenilde Gedeon, esposa do vereador Kenedy Gedeon (PRP), na diretoria Administrativa do Hospital Regional Alarico Nunes Pacheco, no lugar do suplente de vereador Neto da Educação indicado pelo casal Waquim, e não teria avisado a prefeita Socorro do fato, isso teria sido a gota d’água que faltava.
Esse fato acabou com a pequena chance que Edivar teria, e não faltou gente pra dizer a Socorro Waquim, “tá vendo, antes de ser prefeito ele faz isso”. Outro fato que ocorreu na cidade de Graça Aranha, foi que o deputado Sétimo Waquim disse a um deputado estadual do PMDB nas festividades do aniversário da cidade. “Conseguir colocar o vice-prefeito (Edivar Ribeiro) no PMDB, agora ta fácil”, afirmou Sétimo. Não se tem outra conclusão de que o vice-prefeito está sob as “rédeas” do casal Waquim, e que se quiser romper não poderá ser candidato.
O fato vem se consumando nos últimos dias, os partidos tidos como controlado pela prefeita, como é o caso do PSL, presidido pelo secretário de Finanças, Carlão declarou apoio oficial ao sobrinho da prefeita, vereador Tales Waquim, e o próximo a declarar apoio será o PV, que tem a frente o subsecretário de Urbanismo, Chaguinha.
Nos próximos dias mais partidos irão declarar apoio ao vereador Tales Waquim, a agenda da declaração de apoio já está feita, só que não sabe é Edivar Ribeiro.
